Two Sides, One God
Creation, they say, shows us who God is.
What do I know about creation? Well, probably not much. But I know enough to be pretty impressed. I am impressed by its immensity, its minute detail, its usefulness, its beauty, its fascinating intricacy.
I once heard of a scientist who undertook to study sand. In time he became a believer in the Creator God because of the wondrous things he learned about sand. I really don’t know enough about sand to be particularly impressed, but I can say that I don’t think we can take a handful of anything God created and not find enough to occupy a PhD for his whole career—and he still would not understand it all. The deeper we go in studying His creation, the more minute and incredible the design is found to be.
And all any of us have said or written in praise of this Creator God is as a whisper to describe Niagara Falls.
The Cross, they say, shows us who we ought to be.
What do I know about a love that would bring the incomprehensibly wise and powerful Creator to this earth to live the life He asked me to live, but could not, and to die death I deserved to die, so I could have the hope of an eternal future?
I know enough to live in joy and hope each day because of Him and Him alone.
And all any of us have said or written in praise of this Savior God is as a whisper to describe Niagara Falls.
The Question:
With a God this powerful and this wise, this loving and this generous, why would I withhold anything He has asked for? Why would I be afraid to trust Him with my whole life and my whole future?
I ought to be wholly surrendered to Him, submitting to His re-creating power to re-make me into the person He intended me to be.
Praise His name.
