The very best Christmas gift I ever received came from my younger brother. At Easter grandpa and grandma had given us all a "piggy bank" in the Easter basket. Mine was a dog, sister Pam was given a pink pig. I don't remember what Johnny received, but Jesse was given a green frog with huge eyes and a wide grin. It was also my favorite color, a brilliant green. I remember teasing Jesse I was going to swipe it when he wasn't looking. He really liked it and was insulted at the teasing. I went away to school and forgot about it. Later that year Grandpa died and when I went home to visit I remember seeing the green frog again. It was sitting on Jesse's shelf with all his other special treasures and he made a comment that was the last gift grandma and grandpa had given him before grandpa died. Christmas a year later, after most of the other presents were unwrapped, Jesse looked behind the tree and pulled out a small package that didn't have a name on it. He handed it to me. It was that green frog. He had left a name off of it because he wanted to make sure he was the one who gave it to me. I felt like he was giving me a piece of his heart. In many ways, that was the best Christmas present I have ever received.

I can't really think of any Christmas gift that is the best except for this year. My eldest brother and his wife are flying me out to their place for Christmas. This kind of brotherly love is only second to the love that Christ gave us so many years ago when He sent sent His son as a baby to save us all from sin.

With Christmas coming up, please share your best all-time Christmas gift received. Or your great gift-giving ideas.

I've read that a book is one of the greatest gifts that can be given. But with fewer people reading books, is that still true? What other options are there?

What do you think of Christmas shopping online? Personally, I think it's a great idea! I'll be getting the latest Veggie Tales.
