I was reading what you wrote about Jim planning to send you some of Mrs. White's books. I don't own many of them, but read on line her books. I live in a small apt. so the site is awesome.

http://www.whiteestate.org/books/books.asp

They are free to read online.

God bless you in your reading.
Jim had a wonderful way of spreading the word of God it seems, and praise the Lord that he did. That is what each of us is supposed to do when we love our Lord. I only wish that I did it more fully than I do, but God uses us where we are and we are to be willing to be used in what ever place He has us.

Vivian, thanks for sharing this. I was so afraid that Jim had left this earth by himself. Thank the Lord he was where he loved to be.

Jim had promised me about a week before he passed that he was going to send me some books on EG White...I never got them. In fact, it's weird, I keep looking for them in the mail.

I used to tease him in chat about his spelling---used to tell everyone that was new to chat that it's ok, I know how to translate Jim....hehehehe

Since I am a free member, Vivian, if you could include these remembrances to his family I would appreciate it.

Oh, and someone else told me that just before he passed Jim had a conversation about me with another chatter, and that he was proud of me that I was improving with my walk with the Lord. He had remembered that when I first came into chat I was very negative about myself and that I harbored a lot of unforgiveness and that he had seen a lot of improvement that he was very happy to see. I'm going to miss him a lot. He was a very intelligent man.

I can remember the first time that I came in contact with Jim..It was my first time on chat..He was the first one to welcome me..When I was quiet he would say "still there villiee"? I can remember sharing the sorrow of the loosing my mom the day that she passed.. he was there for me reminding me that we are not meant to stay on this earth that our real home is in heaven where we will never be apart again.
Although I had the privilege of his company for only a short time..We developed a relationship that seemed to have been established for many years. I told him of my feelings and wishes. We shared our dreams and wishes. I remember telling him that if I had ever had a father figure in my life I would have wanted him to be just like he was. He laughed and said "now that you have said that I'm feeling that I may need a cane soon".
Its funny how you never think of someone not being there anymore..It felt that I had found a precious jewel and that I was going to hold it tightly in my hand and never let it go..But I have come to see that no matter how you hold on to things or a special person..Its really not yours at all but only a gift from God to appreciate and to be thankful you had the gift of having it as long as you did.
Jim and I talked about heaven and how wonderful it will be..I cant wait to see him for the first time face to face. I can imagine a host of many gathered around him..I thank god for our cowboy Jim.

Barbara, what an awesome testimony of love that this man left behind. Thank you for writing about his life and demise. God bless you, and I shall be praying for his family that they might find that Forever Friend as he did. Would you mind if I shared this with my church family. I know that it might be a special help to others at this time. Life is so short, and God is so awesome we need to keep our eyes on Him and our faith will be strengthened. We don't need a great faith, we need faith in a great God and His is worthy of all our praise.
God bless,

Sabbath morning (Nov.18) Jim was supposed to show up early as usual to finalize some plans on church work with Joey but he showed up late. He sat in his pew spot and Olga went to sit next to him though she does not know why as she usually sits behind him - I told her the Holy Spirit must have insisted. Jim got up to go check the thermostat because he was either too hot/cold. Then he came and sat back down. He was on the bulletin to have scripture reading but he stayed in his seat. Olga figured he had already discussed it with those in charge so she said nothing. It was about 11 a.m. and the head elder (Joey) and others were getting ready in the back to go up front. Olga again wondered if she should say something but did not. Then Jim leaned over to her and quietly asked her to call 911, that he was having chest pains. She asked her son (Adam) sitting behind them to call 911 and at the same time Jim said he wanted to lay down. So Olga help him and as soon as he had laid down he said he could not breathe. He was tugging to get his shirt open and Olga helped. Then suddenly he went into a stare and Adam dropped his cell phone and started CPR, Olga called for help saying "he cannot breathe" and Joey ran down to help with compressions together with Adam and quickly moved the pews ahead to make more room and move Jim to the floor. Gabriel had already been calling 911 too because he heard Olga when Jim first spoke to her. Jim's eyes rolled back but after a minute of CPR they came back. The stare continued. Even though they continued CPR he was gone. The ambulance came right then and they all kept trying to revive him. They shocked him three times but no response and then they loaded him into the ambulance and took him to the hospital. The doctor told the church members that Jim died of a massive heart attack and that they could not have saved him even if he would have been in the hospital next to all the best equipment. Jim was gone within the first 2 minutes from the time he asked them to call 911. Jim died where he loved to be and with the people he loved being beside serving the Lord. The funeral was Nov. 28, Tuesday, 10 a.m. at the Reedley SDA Church. For anyone wishing to contribute to a memorial fund for Jim, I will be getting more details this weekend from Jim's parents and the Pastor and his wife and I will post more information when I have it.

Jim bought himself a bilingual Bible (English and Spanish) to be one with them and insisted on reading Spanish even when they kept assuring him he could read in English. He brushed up on his Spanish to do a work there. He had just bought some books to do literature evangelism and was very excited as was the head elder (Joey). Olga said she enjoyed sitting close to Jim because he always had interesting insights and comments and she got a lot more out of the lesson study because of it. Jim had just been asked to teach the adult sabbath school lesson and be the head deacon. The previous Sabbath he had been asked to take over the whole sabbath school because the members leading out were called away on a family emergency. Jim was usually early and the first to arrive. Some church members admitted they never got to know him well except for Inez who spent more time alone with him. Jim had recently switched from attending another SDA church and had only been attending at Reedley for about 4 months. There was some distrust because he had moved and not settled in anywhere for long. But I know why, he was looking for a place to belong and be useful for the Lord and he finally found it. How many of us would learn a different language well and in such a short time to join with others like he did. When he and I had talked about me not being able to move he was very reluctant to move again, he wanted to stay there. He felt useful and needed and saw a ministry for the Lord. What a great memory of Jim's fire to work for the Lord.

For anyone wondering about his cat. Well, it got out of its kennel/container while they were packing up Jim's belongings and it never came back.

Jim sent an e-mail the night before he died about his strained relationship with his parents and sister and he and I discussed it earlier as well. It was a burden on his heart for us to pray for their salvation as he worried they would be forever lost. Jim wanted his folks to experience the love and truth and fulfillment that only Jesus gives. His parents have been very grateful to the church members for everything they have done. Perhaps through this, a close walk with God may be realized. Please pray for Mr. G. & Mrs. A. Brunk and Jim's sister. Also please pray for all the Reedley SDA church members and the Pastor and his wife as they witness to Jim's family. I will be writing Jim's parents shortly so if any of you would like to include a note please send them to me and I will gladly include them.

Sincerely,
BarbaraDeeO - Vivian
