I received an email today with an attachment:
KODAK_PHOTO_DC002.ZIP
I typically receive a lot of images to my support address to upload images for members who are sending different file types. So I clicked to open the zip file and saw a JPG inside the zip file. JPGs are safe, I know, so I was ready to click it when something caught my attention...
I noticed the content of the email to me said:
"
> Hello.
> I love you with all my heart and soul.
> I miss you so much.
> I send you my photo. Please do not show it to your family and friends.
> Many kisses, Your Love.
HI
Super nice foto :)

Best regards,
muchow mailto:muchow@dhaka.agni.com"
And I thought, hey, this sounds like a scammer. So I decided to use the email address and search and see if there was an account on the website. There was no account on this website for this person.
And so I looked more closely at the name of the JPG file within the zip file.....
It said:
KODAK_PHOTO_DC002.JPG__________________________...
and then had a long underscore following it to off the edge of the screen.
So I scrolled way to the right to see what was on the end....
_______________________JPG.EXE
Ooops! There ya go! This wasn't a JPG at all! It was an Executable!
Whether this is the way Kodak sends their photos, I don't know. But it is NEVER SAFE to open an executable from someone you don't know! NEVER!
So be careful! If you receive unsoliciated images in the mail, make sure you double check the file extension all the way to the right and if it ends with an .EXE DO NOT OPEN IT!
Also, people will forward emails within emails within emails within emails. Watch out for those too, that one of the emails within an email isn't an .EXE extension.
Satan would have us spend time with our computer's virus ridden just to cause us grief and keep us from being about our Father's business!
God bless,
Nannette
