Hi Nannette,
I think it was great you posted the correspondance between the one scammer and someone from the website. The research I have done is that usually more than person is responding to the e-mails. Thats why you don't get any answers back to your questions. It would be to hard to remember who said what. It could of been a guy answering his e-mails also. Some scammers are really pushing to talking on yahoo IM's or an IM service. That is where they really pour it on.
I know its not Christlike but I did lead a scammer on for a little while. I felt like if I was keeping him busy maybe he wouldn't be taking in someone else. I told him I was a cat lady with 12 cats and that I was the second oldest child out of 8. I named my brothers and sisters by tv characters. He didn't get it at all.
The first tip off for me has always been asking them what state they live in. Then I ask them what is the capital of the state. They usually say they are from Ohio and live in the town of TEXAS.
What bothers me the most are these people praying on people that really want to love someone. Its bad enough using someone for money. It is worse breaking someones heart. They can drag out scamms for months. Sending presents charging them through someone elses stolen credit card. It makes me sick.
Sorry the post was long just wanted you to know some of the things I have experienced.

Hi Larry and Nannette,
I wanted to thank you for your info on scammers in the past. I am a free member on yahoo personals and I am always getting contacted by these young , beautiful,women,who always come on,..start with the exact same "how are you doing?".
Thanks to you, I always look for the signs.
#1 they always have a pic that looks like it was taken by a professional photographer, in a professional setting. It's the only photo on their site, then
#2 they don't care that they are half my age saying that age doesn't matter,
#3 they don't speak very good english. I always ask them what time it is (knowing that they are half way around the globe and they don't know what time zone I'm in) and then they usually (after I ask) admit that they are from Nigeria.
Recently ,I was contacted by a woman (so she says) might be a man for all I know, and I went along with it, ...so I decided to witness to her, giving this person the 4 spiritual laws..(thinking I might get this scammmer saved :).. hehe.. and so after a time of visits with this person, they finally asked me to help their financial situation as her mom needed and operation and wanted me to cash some sort of check that had to be cashed in the US or something.. so her mom could get the operation that she needed.. anyway , at that point I just told them... I don't know you,and I don't do that ... that was the last I heard of her....her supposed name... Kim Owen on yahoo personals..anyway....all of these contacts ...I recognize the pattern (thanks to you).....and so the reason for this email...is just to say "Thanks Nannette" :)
