When I was 8 years old my mother had her feet covered in warts. She had very painful surgery to remove them but within 3 months they came back twice as bad. At the time we were living in a low income housing project and money was scarce but no matter how little we had mom always paid 20% for tithe. When the warts came back Mom claimed Malachai 3:10 "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in Mine house, and prove Me now herewith, . . . if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it." Within 6 weeks the warts were completely gone and they never came back.
If the previous writer doen't believe in paying tithe and feels no one else should how would the ministers be paid? How would we spread the gospel and send missionaries without the tithe brought into the church. Yes the old laws were nailed to the cross but even in the New Testament after Christ it said the paying of tithe went on. So if the apostles believed that paying tithe was the right thing to do then how can we do less.

I guess I have a different belief about this. The Jewish nation was obliged to pay tithe in a specific percent of their increase by the handwriting of laws contained in the ordinances. This was established in their system of government and religion to provide for the levite tribe and the synagogues. We are not bound to the ordinances as Jesus blotted them out, having nailed them to the cross. That includes all of them and not just the ones we pick and choose.
A rich man that approached Jesus asked what should he do to be saved. Jesus didn't tell him to go to the temple and give 10 percent. Jesus told him to sell everything that he had and follow Him. Another example of the spirit of giving that Jesus taught was the widow and the mite. I am confident that the widow's mite was more than 10 percent of her increase. It was all she had to give.
God does not need our money to preach the gospel. He could rain gold out of the sky if needed and He could send angels of light to speak out the gospel to every corner of the earth in every language to every person including the deaf. Giving is for us and when we give we receive the blessing. Giving helps to keep us from becoming totally self absorbed in this self oriented world. When we give it makes us feel good inside. If it doesn't then we are doing something wrong and should have a serious heart to heart talk with our own heart.
The spirit of giving is not just about money. Giving includes our time, our efforts and even our very thoughts. Giving includes being mindful of others in need. God will send them to us and He will send us to them. We must be constantly aware and help in every way we can when the opportunity is offered. Giving even includes prayer. When we pray for someone it is one of the most selfless acts we can perform. The spirit of giving requires us to pray for people who need help and then to help them in every way that we can. Sometimes it involves enlisting others to help as well.
Everything we are, everything we have, everything we will ever be including our very existance is God's already. Even the very breath that we breathe is God's. God doesn't just expect 10 percent back. God wants our one hundred and ten percent all the time.

when we have sinned, 1 John 1:9 should be a source of our encouragement. that if we confess (meaning agree that it is sin and displeases the Father's heart and will to repent of it)our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.if you did confess and repented (turned around and do the opposite) by giving your tithes and offerings faithfully again, you should no longer feel bad about the offense. Judas felt remorse in betraying Jesus but he did not return to Jesus. Peter was different. Peter also felt sorrow upon his denial of Jesus. but he repented and turned back TO JESUS and became a pillar in the church. so take heart. when u are forgiven, you should also forgive yourself.God bless u

Thank you so much for the insightful and honest truth about God's mercy and forgiveness toward us. I just finished reading it at a time when I needed to most. When we encounter God through repentance and honest confession, I sure do feel undone. Almost hopeless. But I thank God through Jesus Christ who died for me( and all who seek Him ) and shed his blood for me. ..And if we sin ( which we inevitably will ) we have a mediator between God and man... and that is the one Jesus Christ our Lord, our God, our Saviour and our brother in trials great and small. I do believe we can give all into His loving and capable hands and He will lift us up.
Thank you and God bless you.

I think all Christians can say we all are sinners and we are forgiven through the blood of Christ. You are not alone in this particular thing but I praise God that we are forgiven and we continue to let Him mold us and shape us into His character. John 3:17 says “God sent not His son into the world to condemn the world (me) but that the world (I), through Him, might be saved.” When Jesus looked at the woman that had been brought to Him by the Pharisees, He asked her one important question. “Does anyone here condemn you?” She answered, “No one LORD.” And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more.” John 8:1-12 Jesus sends the Holy Spirit to convict us of our sin and puts the desire to confess and repent of that sin in our heart, but He didn’t come to condemn us. Conviction of sin (brings us to Christ) is very different from condemnation of sin (separates us from Christ).
Then who is it that is condemning us after we have confessed and repented of our sins? Zecariah 3:1-2 “…and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him…And the LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan. Rev. 12:10 Satan is the accuser of the brethren.
Godly sorrow leads to confession and repentance of our sins but ungodly guilt from Satan separates us from Christ making it seem almost impossibl, in our minds, to be restored to Christ and salvation. Ps 103:10-14 He has not dealt with us according to our sins…For as the heavens are high above the earth so great is His mercy toward them who love Him; As far as the east is from the west so far has He removed our sins from us…He remembers that we are dust. Micah 7:19 He will turn again, He will have compassion upon us; He will subdue our iniquities; and will cast all their (MY) sins into the depths of the sea.
Just as King David was restored to his relationship after his repentance (Ps 51) and just as Peter was restored to his discipleship after denying Christ, so we are restored (Romans 5:10) when we confess our sins. Will we still continue to sin, yes, but we have the promise and reassurance that He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness. We are restored! 1 John 1:9… And whatever we ask , we receive from Him because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 1John 3:22 Now, do you believe Christ? Absolutely. God is not a man that He should lie. When Satan begins dredging your sins up from the bottom of the sea, ask the LORD to silence him and send him away. You don't listen to the old tapes anymore - Jesus gave you some new ones.
